Baldwin Park Unified’s Margaret Heath Elementary and Olive Middle School were recognized with gold-level awards by the California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coalition for outstanding implementation of the PBIS program. Both schools will have their names displayed at the Sixth Annual California PBIS Conference in Sacramento from Monday, Sept. 13 to Wednesday, Sept. 15, in honor of their accomplishment.

Baldwin Park Unified, in partnership with the City of Baldwin Park and Oath to Country Foundation, is hosting an inaugural Mental Health Awareness Fair and Walk from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 7. The event will kick off at City Hall, located at 14403 E. Pacific Ave., and attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle or run to the Performing Arts Center, located at 4640 Maine Ave., where they will be greeted by informational vendors, food, beverages and a car show.The event will begin at City Hall – located at 14403 E. Baldwin Park Unified received a donation of 79 Chromebooks to distribute to students in need from the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF), helping address the digital divide to ensure that every student receives an equitable education. CETF supplied the devices and BPUSD’s team of technology service technicians worked with school staff and home liaisons to identify families and assign Chromebooks to students. Each Chromebook has been enrolled in the District’s Google Management account for content filtering, and the devices have been added to TipWeb, which will allow the District to keep track of the devices.
Baldwin Park Unified Prepares for School Year with Leadership Charge
Baldwin Park Unified School District and school administrators gathered together for the District’s annual Leadership Charge on July 15 and 16. Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza welcomed principals, program administrators, directors and supervisors to both professional development days, ensuring the entire BPUSD team is prepared to welcome back students to the new academic year.
As young parents, Regina and Dennis Arnold wanted their children to receive an education that would embrace the diversity of their community and provide an academic advantage. On June 3, the Arnolds proudly watched as their youngest daughter, Sierra Vista High School Class of 2021 graduate Victoria Arnold, received her diploma during the school’s commencement ceremony. Victoria was adorned with the multicolored sash and biliteracy medallions she earned after completing 13 years as a dual language immersion student at Baldwin Park Unified.
Cheered on by family and faculty members, Class of 2021 graduates from Baldwin Park and Sierra Vista high schools returned to campus one final time to receive scholarships and accolades during annual senior recognition and awards nights. Graduates were recognized for displaying excellence in academics and athletics, including awards presented by the Baldwin Park Teacher’s Association, the Ramona Burnham Foundation and the Mark Daniel Flores Music Foundation.
Baldwin Park Unified Lauds Class of 2021 with In-Person Ceremonies
Baldwin Park Unified celebrated its Class of 2021 with in-person and drive-thru events for Baldwin Park and Sierra Vista high schools and North Park Continuation High School. Baldwin Park High School recognized seniors in small cohorts, during traditional commencement ceremonies on June 2 and 3. North Park hosted in-person graduations on June 2 followed by a drive-thru celebration on June 3. Sierra Vista High School graduates were cheered on by family members as they accepted their diplomas in small groups during socially distanced ceremonies on June 3.
Baldwin Park Unified’s Nutrition Services team has served more than 5.5 million meals to the Baldwin Park community since March 2020, and more than 2.6 million meals were distributed during the 2020-21 school year alone. Teaming up with the Los Angeles County Food Bank and local churches, BPUSD has been able to reach families in need throughout the city – providing vital services during the school term and through holiday breaks.
Baldwin Park Unified Celebrates Class of 2021 Adult School Graduates
Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education (BPACE) recognized its graduates with a drive-thru ceremony on May 27, honoring those who received career technical education certificates, diplomas and high school equivalency certificates. The Class of 2021 were celebrated by Baldwin Park Unified Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza, Board of Education members, BPACE Principal Veronica Valenzuela, school educators and staff, as well as cheering families.
