BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified will launch the 2021-22 school year on Thursday, Aug. 12, with students returning to full-time, in-person learning, as well as increased socio-emotional and mental health resources.

BPUSD administrators and school leaders spent the summer months preparing for the full return to campus. Those efforts included the continued rollout of the District’s mental health support plan, which places additional counselors on campus to provide increased access to vital support services.

As many Baldwin Park Unified students return to campus, others will continue their education through Digital Learning And Beyond (DLAB), the District’s independent study program. DLAB, available to students from kindergarten to high school, offers flexible and individualized learning that allows students to work at their own pace.

This year, the District will also launch Baldwin Park’s first Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy for students in grades three through eight. The STEM Academy will focus on learning pathways that include computer science, engineering and biomedical science.

The pathways are guided by Project Lead The Way curriculum and created to engage students in cross-disciplinary learning to cultivate skills in creative and critical thinking, communication and collaboration.

“We are excited to welcome students back to BPUSD campuses, and it is all thanks to the hard work and dedication of our school administrators, leaders, teachers and staff,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “As we continue into the new school year, the District will continue to follow local and state guidelines regarding health and safety protocols.”
