The Inglewood Unified School District will hold graduation ceremonies for its comprehensive high schools. On Wednesday, June 5, a ceremony will be held for City Honors High School at 9 a.m. at Southwest College, 1600 W. Imperial Hwy., Los Angeles. On Thursday, June 6, graduations will also be held at Southwest College for Morningside High School at 8 a.m. and Inglewood High School at 11 a.m.

West Covina High Air Force JROTC Named Distinguished Unit
West Covina High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) was named a Distinguished Unit for the fourth year in a row. West Covina High’s cadets completed more than 3,600 combined community service hours throughout the greater Los Angeles area in 2018-19. The Distinguished Unit Award places West Covina High’s AFJROTC in the top 30 percent of the 900 units across the nation. Photos are available.
Fontana Unified celebrated nearly 3,000 graduates from five comprehensive high schools, two continuation schools and one adult school in commencement ceremonies held May 20 to 23 at Citizen’s Business Bank Arena in Ontario. The District’s five comprehensive high schools honored 12 valedictorians and salutatorians, many of whom will pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) fields at prestigious colleges and universities across the country.
Paramount High School to Celebrate Nearly 1,000 Graduates
Nearly 1,000 Paramount High School seniors will take to the stage to accept their diplomas during an evening ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13. The celebration will feature speeches by the school’s salutatorian and valedictorian along with Superintendent Dr. Ruth Pérez. The school’s band and choir will perform during a ceremony held in Paramount’s 6,000-seat stadium at 14429 Downey Ave., Paramount.
Lynwood Unified School District celebrated nearly 900 graduates during commencement ceremonies. Approximately 200 students from Vista High School received diplomas on June 12, while Firebaugh High School graduated nearly 300 on June 13 and Lynwood High 400 on June 14. Valedictorians and salutatorians urged classmates to relish their high school years even as they prepare to seize the future.
El Monte City School District to Host Promotions
El Monte City School District’s schools will hold kindergarten, sixth- and eighth-grade promotions during
the first week of June at each campus. On Tuesday, June 4, Rio Hondo School will host its promotion at
5 p.m., followed by Potrero School at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, June 5, Gidley School will celebrate at 5
p.m. and Wright School and Durfee School at 5:30 p.m. Columbia School will celebrate at 9 a.m. Friday,
June 7.
