     Hacienda La Puente Unified School District (HLPUSD) celebrated the grand opening of William Workman High School’s Sports Complex on March 19, marking a transformative investment that provides students and the community with a long-awaited home for athletics, school traditions, and shared community experiences. The ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed elected officials and representatives, students, staff, families, alumni, and future Lobos to be among the first to step onto the new sports fields, score the honorary first soccer goals and football touchdowns, and practice their athletic skills. Workman senior and Associated Student Body treasurer Carlos Ayala said he looks forward to attending the home baseball games and cheering on the team.

  • Hacienda La Puente Unified Welcomes Back More Than 15,000 Students for 2025-26 School Year

    Red carpets, cheering squads, and vibrant energy marked the first day of the 2025-26 school year as Hacienda La Puente Unified School District welcomed back more than 15,000 students across 28 campuses on Wednesday, Aug. 6. At Wedgeworth Elementary School, students began the year on a brand-new, two-story campus featuring 30 modern classrooms, smart technology, energy-efficient systems, and a fully outfitted kitchen. The indoor/outdoor multipurpose room offers a flexible learning and activity space, while an underground stormwater basin — designed to capture 1.5 million gallons of water — underscores the District’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Hacienda La Puente Unified Facilities Upgrades Enhance Learning Environments in 2021-22

Hacienda La Puente Unified students, teachers and staff are benefiting from a number of facility improvements during the 2021-22 school year, which include modernized classrooms, new interior paint, roofing restorations and the installation of solar panels. Many of the upgrades were completed over the summer, ensuring students and employees returned to refreshed classrooms on modernized campuses. Such projects include the installation of solar panel parking lot canopies at Los Altos High School, Workman High School, Wilson High School, La Puente High School, Willow Adult School and the District Office; locker upgrades at La Puente High School; new interior paint at Valley High School and Orange Grove Middle School; roofing restorations at Newton Middle School and Workman Elementary School; and the installation of new ceiling tiles and lighting at Sunset Elementary School.

Hacienda La Puente Unified Welcomes New Associate Superintendent of Business Services

Hacienda La Puente Unified has named Manoj Roychowdhury as its new Associate Superintendent of Business Services. Roychowdhury brings more than 20 years of fiscal leadership experience in K-12 education to the District, with a proven track record of strong business and financial acumen, overseeing implementation of academic programs and initiatives to boost student achievement at school districts throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties. Roychowdhury will provide districtwide leadership and assume oversight of administration services, focusing on District budget, services, and facilities.
