CITY OF INDUSTRY – Manoj Roychowdhury will serve as Hacienda La Puente Unified’s Associate Superintendent of Business Services in 2021-22, bringing more than 20 years of fiscal leadership experience in K-12 education to the role.

Roychowdhury, whose contract was approved by the Board of Education during its Sept. 9 meeting, comes to Hacienda La Puente Unified with a proven track record of strong business and financial acumen.

“I am proud to be a part of such a fantastic school district and have the opportunity to make positive, transformational and meaningful changes for the students, staff, families, community and stakeholders,” Roychowdhury said. “Let’s continue to build on the great work that is being done in this amazing District.”

In 2007, Roychowdhury joined the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), serving as the Disbursements and Financials System Manager.

He has held fiscal leadership roles in districts throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties, where he oversaw the implementation of academic programs and initiatives to boost student achievement– such as 1:1 technology rollouts, dual language immersion, International Baccalaureate, and career technical education pathways.

Roychowdhury was also instrumental in the passing of bond measures that supported vital facilities improvements in two districts, as well as in restructuring the districts’ bonds to generate savings for taxpayers.

He comes to Hacienda La Puente Unified after leading Business Services operations in Santa Ana Unified School District, where he oversaw a general fund budget of $780 million and helped guide the District through the logistical challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roychowdhury will be providing district-wide leadership and assuming oversight of administration services under the direction of HLPUSD Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jimenez.

Roychowdhury holds a Master of Business Administration in finance and systems and a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

“Manoj Roychowdhury is among the best chief business officials in the profession and has the experience to lead Business Services effectively,” Jimenez said. “Together, we will focus on our budget, services, facilities, Measure BB and other District projects to ensure the success of our students, staff and community.”
