  • Sierra Vista Middle School Students Honor 25th Anniversary of 9/11 through Service and Remembrance

    Sierra Vista Middle School students commemorated the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 by honoring the National Day of Service and Remembrance with acts of kindness, patriotic posters, and activities and assignments focused on the importance of remembrance and hope. Eighth-graders created and distributed bracelets early in the week, challenging their classmates to do something kind on or before 9/11. The challenge engaged all 820 Sierra Vista students and encouraged them to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

  • Covina High School to Dedicate New Athletics and Aquatics Complex at Community Celebration

    Covina High School will bring students, families, and the community together for an afternoon of celebration, fun-filled activities, and connection as it officially dedicates its new Athletics and Aquatics Complex. The event will feature a dedication ceremony and facilities tours, followed by a variety of activities for guests to enjoy, including open swim for kids, an exhibition softball game, a student vs. staff kickball game, music, free food, and more.

    Covina-Valley Unified School District welcomed nearly 11,000 students back to campuses on Aug. 17 with posters, balloons, red carpets, and excitement for the start of the 2026-27 school year, setting the stage for another year of achievement, growth, and innovative learning opportunities. Cheerleaders, Associated Student Body members, and staff greeted students as they arrived on campuses, helping create an enthusiastic and welcoming start to the new academic year.

Covina-Valley Unified Middle Schools Redesignated as 2021 Schools to Watch

All three Covina-Valley Unified middle schools – Las Palmas Middle School, Traweek Middle School and Sierra Vista Middle School – have been recognized as 2021 California Schools to Watch, celebrating their efforts in closing the achievement gap, establishing positive learning environments and infusing technology into every aspect of learning. The middle schools are among 31 high-performing California middle schools to be honored this year. All three schools were re-evaluated to retain their Schools to Watch status.
