Kaiser High School’s football team will vie for its first CIF State Championship in the 3-A Division on Saturday, Dec. 15 against Wilcox High School in Santa Clara.
Lynwood Unified Reorganizes Board of Education During Meeting
Lynwood Unified’s Board of Education appointed Gary Hardie Jr. as its new president, Maria Lopez as vice president and Briseida Gonzalez as clerk during its reorganization meeting on Dec. 6. Recently re-elected members Alfonso Morales and Alma-Delia Renteria were sworn in during the meeting and commended for their service by a representative from the office of state Sen. Ricardo Lara.
Fontana Unified to Hold Elementary Computer Science Program Showcase for Superintendents
Fontana Unified School District will hold a tour of Dorothy Grant Elementary – one of its Code to the Future computer science immersion schools – for superintendents and local elected officials from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3. Following a student-led keynote speech, school superintendents and guests will visit classrooms and learn how computer science is integrated into daily instruction at each grade level. Bassett Unified Students Complete First Launch in Citrus College 3-2-1 Blast Off! Rocketry Program
Bassett Unified middle school students are working with mentors at Citrus College to master engineering skills as part of the 3-2-1 Blast Off! Rocketry program, which runs through March. So far, the students have concluded their first lesson in aerodynamics and launched their first rockets. The program includes training in presentations as well as the hands-on rocketry skills.
Gabrielino High Students Selected to Participate in 2018 National Christmas Tree Experience
Gabrielino High School students hand-painted 24 Christmas ornaments to decorate a tree in the 2018 National Christmas Tree experience – the only California school selected and one of just 56 across the country. Gabrielino High was chosen to represent California in the display, in which the 6-foot trees surround the 48-foot National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse in President’s Park in Washington D.C.
