WHAT: Music industry veteran and former Motown Records vice president Iris Gordy, famed Motown session drummer Ollie Brown and renowned alto saxophonist Alvin McKinney will attend La Serna High School’s “Motown Experience” fundraiser to benefit the school’s Touchdown Club and families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The dancing and lip-syncing extravaganza will feature numerous hits from the Motown songbook as interpreted by La Serna High students.

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21

WHERE: La Serna High School Locke Gymnasium, 15301 Youngwood Drive, Whittier

DETAILS: “Motown Experience” Director Lisa Kazakos has volunteered her time and energy to the project since 1999 and has been producing the show at La Serna for the last 10 years. Kazakos’ sons graduated from La Serna High, where her husband was a football coach. The family was part of the Touchdown Club for many years. Kazakos says the show includes a diverse group of students who come together to have fun and raise money for their school and The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Kazakos is the wife of a veteran police officer of 29 years and a lieutenant for the Anaheim Police Department. The annual song and dance program will feature students performing to songs made famous by Motown greats such as Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Supremes and more.

Tickets, priced at $7, can be purchased at the door.
