TCHS Senior Excels in Physics Competitions, Placing in Top 1%

Temple City High School Senior, Frank (Chih-Yuan) Chiu, is a Gold Medal Semifinalist in the United States Physics Team competition. Frank placed in the top 1 percent of over 4,000 students who participated in the national competition. Frank also recently competed in the 2014 Physics Bowl, where he placed 1st in Southern California (Division 12) for second-year physics students. He placed 4th internationally last year in the first-year student category. The average score for second year students was 15.7 out of 40 and Frank earned 31 out of 40. TCUSD and Partners to Host ‘Building Upon Success’ Parent Forum

The Temple City Unified School District and the Temple City Schools Foundation are partnering to host a “Building Upon Success” Parent Forum on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. The evening will include workshops on school facilities, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), assessment testing and Common Core standards. The Forum will be held at Memoli Hall on the north side of the Longden Elementary School campus located at 9501 Wendon St., in Temple City. Child care will be provided. TCHS Rams Repertory Company Performs ‘Tartuffe (The Imposter)’

The Temple City High School Rams Repertory Company is pleased to present its spring production of “Tartuffe (The Imposter)” at Theatre 601 at Temple City High School, 9501 Lemon Ave., Temple City. Temple City Unified to Hold Blood Drive May 20

The Temple City Community Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, May 20 from noon to 6 p.m. at the TCUSD District Office, 9700 Las Tunas Drive. This blood drive is co-sponsored by the Temple City Unified School District, Temple City and the Temple City Chamber of Commerce. Donors must have a photo identification to donate. Temple City High Invites Community to Participate in 2015 Rose Parade Fundraising Extravaganza

Come out for a night of fun, casino games and entertainment all while supporting the Pride of Temple City Band and Pageantry Corps’ efforts to raise $125,000 to participate in the 2015 Rose Parade. The event will be on Saturday, May 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Tired Iron Works, 135 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia. Cost to attend is $35 a ticket and includes $25 in casino chips and a free drink ticket. Temple City HS Instructor Receives Dartmouth Scholarship

Temple City High School Social Science Instructor Stacy Rudzik has received a full scholarship to attend a Native American History Seminar at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire from August 3-9. TCHS Students Compete, Win at LA County ROP Event

Three Temple City High School seniors, Samantha Walker, Sophia Valderrama and Jake Ferntheil, received bronze medals at the Los Angeles County Regional Occupational Program’s Outstanding Student competition and gold medals from the Temple City Unified School District. Samantha Walker was recognized for the exceptional photographs she learned how to take in her digital photography class. Sophia Valderrama received accolades for her outstanding work in her sports medicine class. Jake Ferntheil was recognized for his success in the advanced woods class. TCHS Senior Receives Scholar Athlete Award from National Foundation

Temple City High School Senior, Jake Ferntheil, has received a prestigious 2014 Scholar Athlete Award from the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Jake maintains a 3.8 grade point average, is one of the captains on the TCHS Varsity Football team, and plays as both an offensive and defensive lineman. He is also a member of the TCHS Pride of Temple City Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Pit Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and is the Band’s Vice President. TCHS Dance Teams Take Top Awards

The Choreo/Fusion Team of Temple City High School competed at the Sharp International National Dance Championships on March 8 in Las Vegas. They won three first place trophies in the Novelty, Character, and Dance categories; a second place trophy in the Jazz category; a third place trophy in the Lyrical category; and received the National Champion high score in the Character and Dance categories.  With three firsts and National Championships in multiple categories, Choreo/Fusion won the overall National Championship trophy and received a banner to proudly display at Temple City High School.  The TCHS Song Team also placed first and won the National Championship in their category. Long-Time TCUSD Volunteer Receives Golden Apple Award from ACSA

Temple City Unified School District administrators are proud to announce Frank Escudero has received the 2014 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Golden Apple Award. Frank and his wife Julie are both long-time Temple City schools volunteers.  Since 2001, Frank has taken the opportunity to volunteer and help whenever and wherever needed and has been a volunteer with PTA and other organizations with TCUSD at all levels from the time his daughter was a student at Longden Elementary School to her graduation from Temple City High School.
