Sierra Vista High Hosts 33 Student Music Groups for Annual Festival
15 Groups Will Represent Baldwin Park Unified Schools
WHAT: Sierra Vista High School will host a Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association Festival featuring 33 music groups, including concert bands, orchestras, wind ensembles and symphonic bands. As many as 1,000 student performers will visit the campus during the two-day event.
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 and 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 8
WHERE: Sierra Vista High School, 3600 N. Frazier St., Baldwin Park
DETAILS: Each group will perform three selections in 30 minutes for a three-member panel as well as perform a previously unseen selection with just four minutes to prepare. The panel will rate each performance and offer the groups feedback for improvements. Groups include three each from Sierra Vista and Baldwin Park high schools, plus nine groups representing Sierra Vista and Jones junior high schools and Olive and Holland Middle School. Holland’s combined orchestra includes Santa Fe School students.
