WHITTIER – Rio Hondo College invites community members to an afternoon of Halloween fun with family-friendly videos and cartoons, live entertainment, popcorn, cider and a costume contest with prizes – all free for the community.

Presented by the Division of Arts and Cultural Programs, the family event takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 in the Wray Theater at Rio Hondo College, 3600 Workman Mill Road, Whittier.

“We all love Halloween,” Rio Hondo College Superintendent/President Teresa Dreyfuss said. “There are all kinds of events for adults, but we wanted to do something for the whole family.”

With that in mind, the Wray Theater offers an afternoon of funny, spooky (but not scary) videos and cartoons, together with some surprise live entertainment and a costume contest for children under 12.

“It’s one way Rio can celebrate our community,” Dreyfuss said, “and have great fun while doing it.”

Parking for the free event is $3.
