WHAT: In an innovative new partnership, the Montebello Unified School District has teamed up with the Chavez Institute for Law and Social Justice and the Chavez Law Group  to provide free legal services to the community. A grand opening and open house event will be held to celebrate the Chavez Institute Legal Resource Center, which will be housed at Bell Gardens Intermediate.

After opening a traditional law office in Montebello earlier this year, the Chavez Law Group, founded and operated by the son and grandson of legendary activist Cesar E. Chavez, created the Chavez Institute for Law and Social Justice to extend legal resources and services to the community in a creative, tech-savvy and cost efficient way.

Community members may visit the Center for pro-bono consultations of any legal issue with bilingual attorneys through Skype, a video chat feature, from 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Lunch will be served for all those in attendance at the grand opening and open house.
