WHAT: The Lynwood Unified School District invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a $2.5 million artificial turf football field and track at the District Stadium at Lynwood High School. The event will precede the third annual Wood Bowl, between Lynwood and Firebaugh high schools.

The field, completed in June, will be home to athletic teams at both Lynwood and Firebaugh. The stadium renovations were made possible by the voter-approved $93 Measure K facilities bond, passed in 2012. The durable, all-weather turf will save the District thousands of dollars annually in maintenance costs and 40,000 gallons of water a week. Elected leaders, student-athletes and community members will join District officials, the Board of Education and the community for the ribbon-cutting festivities.

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony – 6 p.m.; Wood Bowl kickoff – 7 p.m.

WHERE: Lynwood High School, 4050 Imperial Highway, Lynwood.
