WHAT: The Lynwood Unified School District is taking an active role in raising awareness for the benefits of health care coverage and other preventative care measures by hosting  a health fair in partnership with the City of Lynwood and St. Francis Medical Center.

Free immunizations will be provided for kids ages 5-18.  Free adult screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, height/weight, and body fat analysis will be provided along with free healthy eating demonstrations, team sports sign-ups, and giveaways. Care 1st, California Health Collaborative, Los Angeles County Office of Education, and St. Francis will provide information on health insurance and help local families enroll in health care coverage.

The event will offer a variety of activities such as a jump rope contest for kids, face painting and Zumba classes.

Participating sponsors include Blue Shield, Mothers Nutritional Center, the City of Lynwood, St. Francis Medical Center, Hometown Buffet, Tutti Frutti and TAJ.

WHEN:  9 a.m. to noon Nov. 15

 WHERE: Lynwood Community Center, 11301 Bullis Road, Lynwood

WHY: Lynwood Unified is working in conjunction with the Children’s Defense Fund to ensure students are enrolled in health care coverage.
