EL MONTE – El Monte City School District’s rigorous curriculum, student leadership programs, teacher collaboration and attendance initiatives have helped to boost its state test scores, earning it high marks on the newly released 2019 California School Dashboard.

“We are very proud of achieving such high marks on the California Dashboard,” Superintendent Dr. Maribel Garcia said. “This data marks years of hard work from our students, teachers and administrators and gives us goals to set to continually improve and achieve going forward.”

Garcia said the District will continue to maximize its efforts to continue to improve math state test scores and improve student proficiency.

The Dashboard, released on Dec. 12, evaluates districts, schools and student performance on a variety of items, including English language arts, math, English learner progress, parent engagement, suspension rates and attendance.

These measures are graded through five color-coded icons – blue, green, yellow, orange and red – to represent a school’s success on each state measure by averaging performance and growth. Blue and green icons indicate the highest performance.

El Monte City School District earned a “green” performance rating in all categories and met all standards for local indicators such as providing excellent parent and family engagement and implementing academic standards, according to the Dashboard.
