WHAT: Victor Villaseñor, acclaimed author of “Rain of Gold” and a host of other non-fiction works that explore the concept of cultural heritage, will headline a stellar roster of artists and writers at Rio Hondo College’s annual Writes of Spring festival.

DETAILS: Villaseñor, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer, will give the event’s keynote speech at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 20. Villaseñor will be followed by writer and actor Christel Joy Johnson and writer Alex Espinoza.

Writer and teacher Tracy Robert, winner of the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Prize for fiction, will lead Thursday’s roster of speakers at 8:05 a.m. She will be followed by poet Marsha de la O and a talk by psychologist Shirley Impellizzeri and public relations expert Steve Rhor, authors of a book on public speaking.

Each day will also feature a screening of student films from the River Deep Student Film Festival and student readings from the Rio Hondo College annual literary anthology “River’s Voice.”
