WHAT: Rio Hondo College’s Fire Academy will host a 50th anniversary celebration featuring 300 alumni from across the country, a Bucket Brigade Challenge between alumni and staff, a display of 25 fire engines, a helicopter fly-over, live music, food and videos of past academy classes.

U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez will present a proclamation recognizing the academy’s 50 years of contributions to firefighting.

DETAILS: Returning alumni include a member of the Academy’s first class, held in 1968, as well as former cadets from Utah, Texas, Nevada and across California.

Rio Hondo College Fire Academy is considered one of the premier training programs for urban firefighters, wildland firefighters and advanced training for mid-career firefighters.
