WHAT: Lynwood Unified and the National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) will host a two-day Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Combine, where unsigned Lynwood and Firebaugh high seniors, underclassmen and junior college athletes will have the chance to be recruited onto college football teams.

Students will participate in high-intensity drills throughout the event’s first day; HBCU coaches and staff will select students to advance to a second, final day of tryouts.

Representatives from the participating HBCUs – including Tuskegee University, Clark Atlanta University and Norfolk State University – will award on-the-spot acceptances and scholarships to students after the second-day session. More than 105 scholarships were awarded at last year’s combine.

MORE: The National College Resources Foundation was developed in 1999 to serve as a link between minorities and college admissions. NCRF’s mission is to curtail the high school dropout rate and increase degree and/or certificate enrollment among underserved and underrepresented youth.
