SAN YSIDRO – San Ysidro School District is seeking at least seven members to serve on its Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, which will review expenditures under the District’s $250 million Proposition C bond measure.
The District is accepting applications to form the committee, which will consist of parents and guardians of San Ysidro students, local business owners, senior citizen representatives and a member from a taxpayer organization.
Members serve two-year terms, reviewing financial reports to ensure bond funding is spent only on school facilities projects. They will report their findings to the Board of Education and to the public.
“Though this committee is not a requirement of this bond measure, we are committed to transparency and to maintaining the trust of our community,” said Board of Education President Rosaleah Pallasigue. “This is a great opportunity for members of our community to get involved in the San Ysidro School District and to see the amazing work taking place with this critical funding entrusted to us by local residents.”
Local voters passed Proposition C in 1997, providing San Ysidro School District with funding for school construction and modernization projects, ultimately to ensure students have access to safe, clean and comfortable learning environments that promote academic success.
