WHITTIER – Close to 2,800 students from Whittier Union High School District’s five comprehensive high schools, two alternative high schools, adult school and transition program will celebrate the conclusion of their high school careers at commencement ceremonies taking place June 3-5.

Ceremony schedules are as follows:

Frontier High School, Whittier Adult School, Sierra Vista High School
When: 6 p.m. Monday, June 3
Where: Whittier High School Vic Lopez Auditorium, 12417 Philadelphia St., Whittier
Details: 110 Frontier High School graduates; 37 Adult School graduates; 120 Sierra Vista graduates (19 are graduating with honors and 37 are graduating with a Spartan Award). Frontier High student Alyxandria Phillips will receive the Aztec of the Year Award for her leadership and service to the community. Phillips and Sierra Vista senior Micha Miller will serve as student speakers.

Transition Program
When: 7 p.m. Monday, June 3

Details: 23 special education students ages 18-22

California High School
When: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4
Where: Sandra Sanchez Thorstenson Stadium, 9800 Mills Ave., Whittier
Details: 650 graduates; valedictorians are Angelica Gonzalez (UC Berkeley – molecular environmental biology with an emphasis on animal health and behavior); Yanelli Gonzalez (UCLA – biology); and Matthew Ponce de Leon (UCLA – computer science). The salutatorians are Allyson Fortis (UC Riverside – bioengineering); Christopher Tokarse (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo – mechanical engineering); and Jacquelene Zambrano (Cal State Long Beach – history)

Santa Fe High School

Details: 512 graduates; valedictorian is Paola Ruiz (Stanford – political science) and the salutatorians are Hope Forseberg (UC Davis – animal sciences) and Leah Kim (UCLA – bioengineering)
