Veteran Buena Park School District Educator Provides Warmth, Positivity as New Principal
BUENA PARK, CA – Buena Park Learning Center Principal Mary Beckelheimer loves taking care of people – she exudes cheerfulness and positivity when connecting with parents, families and students to create a comfortable atmosphere wherever she goes.
Her new role as principal for the Buena Park Learning Center, which includes the Buena Park Early Learning program and the recently launched Academy for Accelerated Learning, gives her the opportunity to build relationships with parents of young students and parents who want an additional level of safety in regard to COVID-19.
“It’s exciting to be a part of something entirely new,” Beckelheimer said. “Buena Park School District is looking to create a school site that can be a connecting place for families, both in person and virtually, with unique programs that meet the needs of our community in a changing world.”
Beckelheimer is a 21-year veteran of the Buena Park School District, having served as a primary and upper grade teacher, a special education teacher, an administrative intern, an assistant principal and most recently, principal at Whitaker School, before she was tapped to lead the Buena Park Learning Center. She also holds a master’s in education from Azusa Pacific University.
“I was born and raised in Buena Park and I am dedicated to this community,” Beckelheimer said. “Since the Buena Park Learning Center will be the first public school experience for some of our young families, we want them to feel that we are here to help and that this is a safe and supportive place of learning.”
Beckelheimer said she credits her tenacity and flexibility as an educator as the top reasons why she was chosen as principal for the Buena Park Learning Center.
“Mary Beckelheimer is one of our finest educators and a shining example of someone who goes above and beyond to make everyone feel safe and welcome,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “We are excited to have someone with her strong work ethic and positive attitude develop this new school site.”
