Lynwood Unified to Give Books to Families at Scholastic Literacy Event
WHAT: More than 250 Lynwood Unified students will receive new books, engage in reading activities and meet with District administrators during the District’s annual Scholastic
Literacy Event – put on by the Equity, Access & Instructional Services Department.
More than 1,000 titles, including classics like “Charlotte’s Web” and “Everything Pets,” will be provided by the District, Scholastic and community partners. All children will take home up to three books.
Clifford the Big Red Dog® will join parents and guardians in encouraging children to bolster their literacy skills while Lynwood librarians will attend and sign up youngsters for library cards.

MORE: Scholastic Literacy Events are designed to empower families to support their children’s academic achievement through interactive activities – providing tools and skills to build a culture of literacy at home.
Some 98 percent of teachers say greater “family involvement and support” promotes academic achievement, according to data released by Scholastic.
