WHAT: Hacienda La Puente Unified is holding an opening ceremony for La Puente High School’s new Dream Resource Center, one of eight centers located at schools throughout Los Angeles County that aim to provide a safe, welcoming space for students experiencing bullying and exclusion.
The ceremony will celebrate the completion of a newly renovated classroom designed to cultivate social-emotional wellness and community and civic engagement through peer tutoring, social justice programming and much more.

DETAILS: The La Puente High School Dream Resource Center is funded by LA vs. Hate, a community-centered program organized at the request of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors that is designed to build respectful and resilient communities.

The center is also supported by the non-profit organization 211-LA and the Helpline Youth Counseling program, which are providing services that include community cupboards with free snacks, school supplies and hygiene products, and access to mentoring and tutoring.

Local representatives, District officials and community partners will celebrate the opening of the center with remarks from Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez, testimonials and demonstrations led by students benefiting from the center, and honorary speeches.
