Fontana Unified to Host CalKIDS Claim Day, Connecting Students to Nearly $162M in Scholarships
WHAT: Fontana Unified School District and Fontana High School (FOHI) will host a CalKIDS Claim Day to help eligible students access scholarship funds that can be used for college or career training. California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Ted Alejandre, and local education leaders will join Fontana Unified Superintendent Miki R. Inbody and FOHI Principal Joseph Malatesta to highlight the importance of helping students take advantage of resources that can support their futures.
More than 1,400 CalKIDS Scholarship Accounts are available to eligible students, with scholarships of up to $1,500 available for post-secondary education and career training. Students will receive support navigating the claiming process, while learning about the collaborative efforts of state, county, and local education leaders to connect students with financial resources and opportunities beyond high school.

DETAILS: FOHI’s CalKIDS Claim Day is part of a broader countywide effort to connect more than 348,000 eligible San Bernardino County public school students with nearly $162 million in available CalKIDS scholarships. Eligible students can receive up to $1,500 to support their pursuit of college or career training.
The event will feature remarks from state and local education leaders, student scholarship recipients, and FOHI counselors, along with on-site support for eligible students claiming their accounts. Among the featured speakers will be FOHI Class of 2024 graduate and CalKIDS recipient Christopher Bautista Garcia, who is now attending UCLA.
Visual opportunities will include students receiving scholarship-claiming assistance and engaging with education leaders.
