DETAILS:             In 1997, FUSD learned of a young boy who ran away from home after Christmas because he did not receive any gifts. Moved by his story, the FSPD, School Police Officer Cindy Evaro, FUSD Child Welfare and Attendance Liaison Lydia Salazar Wibert collaborated to create the Fontana Santas program. Now, 28 years later, the program has grown to deliver thousands of toys and gifts each year to students in need across the District and community. Through continued support, donations, and volunteerism, Fontana Santas keeps the spirit and compassion of Officer Evaro – who passed away in 2014 – alive.

Fontana Santas is made possible through partnerships with the FSPD, Fontana Teachers Association, United Steel Workers, Fontana Foundation of Hope, Fontana School Police Officer’s Association, and Fontana Management Association.
