WHAT: Two Fontana High School (FOHI) Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) marksmanship teams will travel to Sandy, Utah looking to continue its run of success at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Three-Position Air Rifle (3PAR) Western Regional hosted at the Mountain America Exposition Center on April 10-12.

Media are invited to visit a FOHI MCJROTC marksmanship practice leading up to the regional competition, where FOHI MCJROTC Senior Marine Instructor (SMI), Lieutenant Colonel Rugsithi Denny Meelarp, Ret. and student team members will be available for on-camera interviews.

DETAILS: The CMP 3PAR Regional round includes three separate competitions. Results from all three regional championships will be combined to determine which teams and individuals advance to the Junior Olympics/CMP 3PAR National Championship. Both FOHI teams qualified in the Sporter Division through the CMP Postal competition season, which played out through a series of remote competitions from October through January.

FOHI’s teams are seeded third and 10th going into the CMP 3PAR Western Regional. The event will draw a field of 115 participants spread across 16 states. Fontana High has been represented at the Junior Olympics/CMP 3PAR National Championship the last two years and finished in fourth place – a program best – in 2023.
