FONTANA, CA – Fontana Unified School District has earned recognition on the 2026-27 U.S. News & World Report High School rankings, with all five of its comprehensive high schools ranking among the top 50% of schools in California and the top one-third of schools nationwide. The rankings also reflect strong graduation outcomes across the District, with each high school reporting a 90% or higher graduation rate above both the California rate of 87.5% and the national rate of 87.4%.

“Fontana Unified ensures that each student graduates ready for their future of choice, whether it’s continuing their education in college, refining their skills in trade schools, or enlisting in the armed services,” Superintendent Miki R. Inbody said. “The dedication of our teachers and staff has created a template for success throughout our District, and the U.S. News & World Report rankings reflect that hard work.”

Fontana Unified’s commitment to creating a college-going culture is reflected in its annual College Application Submit Days (CASD), held across all five comprehensive high schools. During the 2025-26 school year, more than 1,500 students submitted nearly 8,000 college applications, with graduates attending prestigious universities including UCLA, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins.

Fontana High School (FOHI) was the first to launch the college-going event, building on its award-winning Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) college prep elective. FOHI’s CASD program was recognized with a California School Boards Association Golden Bell Award in 2025.

Fontana Unified’s career technical education (CTE) pathways offer a variety of options for students pursuing trade skills, including aviation, media and entertainment, building and construction, business and finance, health science and medical technology, information technology, manufacturing and product development, public safety, and software and system development. Students graduate with relevant professional skills, allowing them to enter the workforce right away or continue their education at a university or trade school.

School spirit combined with extracurricular activities support student success. Henry J. Kaiser and Summit high school orchestras both played at Carnegie Hall during the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, 13 District student musicians played in the 2026 Tournament of Roses Honor Band on New Year’s Day.

Kaiser and Jurupa Hills high school theater programs are highly-rated and are featured regularly at the California Educational Theatre Association’s annual High School Festival. A.B. Miller High School was also recently named a 2026 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education.

U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 17,000 high schools across the United States, ranking them at the national, state, and local level, by using metrics including college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate.
