DETAILS: In 2022, the El Monte Union Board of Trustees invited community members to participate in an online survey to gather input on renaming Rosemead High’s auditorium. Carr, a pioneering Mexican-American singer, established the Vikki Carr Scholarship Foundation in 1971 to support Hispanic students. The foundation has awarded over 280 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing higher education.

The Rosemead High Modernization Project and Vikki Carr Performing Arts Center are part of the latest facilities improvements in El Monte Union and are supported by funding from Measure D, Measure HS, General Fund S & C, and State matching funds. The EMUHSD Board of Trustees approved the funds to support a sweeping modernization program that ensures every District campus receives facility improvements.
