SAN DIMAS/ LA VERNE – Bonita Unified School District voters on Nov. 6 re-elected current Board of Education President Charles “Chuck” Coyne and elected Derek Bahmanou to the Board of Education, according to preliminary election results.

“Bonita Unified serves the students and parents of two incredible communities, and I remain grateful to the candidates and to our Board for its continued focus on preparing all students to live their purpose,” Superintendent Carl J. Coles said. “We will continue to succeed through our core values of equity, mastery and a focus on results.”

Coyne, a San Dimas resident since 1992, was first elected on Bonita Unified’s Board of Education in 2005. He is owner of Coyne Publishing in San Dimas, and his daughter is a San Dimas High School graduate.

Bahmanou, also a San Dimas resident, is an eighth-grade science teacher at Sierra Vista Junior High School in Baldwin Park. His daughter attends Bonita Unified’s Ekstrand Elementary School.

Coyne and Bahmanou join Board of Education members Glenn Creiman, elected in 2003, Diane Koach, elected in 2007, and Matthew Lyons, appointed in 2017.

“I look forward to building a collaborative relationship to continue the work of the Board that places student achievement at the forefront of our academics, activities, arts and athletics,” Koach said.
