COVINA, CA – Covina-Valley Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Eminhizer has been honored as a 2024-25 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), recognizing her as an innovative and visionary leader who is dedicated to fostering student success and excellence.

Each year, NSPRA recognizes up to 25 superintendents from across the country, honoring dynamic district leaders with fewer than five years of experience as a superintendent who uses strong communication and technology to expand outreach efforts.

“This recognition reflects the collective dedication of our entire Covina-Valley Unified team to fostering strong communication, innovation, and a shared commitment to student success,” Eminhizer said. “I am incredibly honored to be a 2024-25 Superintendent to Watch. Together, we are shaping an innovative education that inspires every student’s unlimited potential.”

During her four years serving as superintendent, Eminhizer has spearheaded initiatives that enhance administrative efficiency and community engagement across the District. Her creation of the Leadership Retreat and Covina-Valley Leadership Seminar Series aims to encourage employees to develop leadership skills, collaborate effectively, and foster a positive culture at every organizational level.

Eminhizer has also expanded leadership opportunities and student voice by introducing student board members, allowing high schoolers to actively participate in decision-making processes and provide valuable insights that represent the perspectives of their peers.

“Dr. Eminhizer has transformed our District through her visionary leadership and has set a new benchmark in leadership and standards of excellence,” Simon Wright, Board of Education President, said. “As Superintendent, her approach ensures that our District is not just keeping pace with educational advancements but is leading by example, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in public education.”
To ensure clear and transparent communication with the District’s educational partners, Eminhizer produces a monthly newsletter, Board Briefs, and a monthly video update series, each offering timely updates on District news, events, and achievements.

Through the establishment of student and staff advisory committees, Parent Town Halls, and the introduction of both “Snacks with the Superintendent” and “Coffee with the Superintendent,” two initiatives that foster open dialogue with District staff, Eminhizer hopes to demonstrate her commitment to accessibility and responsiveness to the needs of the District and its community. Eminhizer also ensures that she visits each District school site multiple times a year, engaging with students, teachers, and staff to continue maintaining an active presence in day-to-day operations.

“This honor underscores the importance of connection and communication in educational leadership,” Eminhizer said. “I would like to thank our entire District community for partnering with us in our mission to create an environment where students, staff, and families feel supported and empowered to achieve great things.”

Eminhizer’s vision of excellence has also resulted in Covina-Valley Unified earning multiple NSPRA awards for outstanding marketing, social media, and media relations campaigns.
