COVINA, CA – Excitement is in the air as Covina-Valley Unified School District prepares to launch its partnership with the Junior Flight Academy (JFA), bringing a groundbreaking aviation/aerospace program to students and ushering in a new era of educational excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

The partnership will offer students an engaging online curriculum, combining aviation and aerospace technology with in-depth academic coursework. It will equip them with invaluable, real-world skills that prepare them for aviation, technology, and science careers.

“This collaboration aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing innovative, engaging, and career-focused educational opportunities for our students,” Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Blackmore said. “By partnering with Junior Flight Academy, we are opening up a world of possibilities for our students and helping them reach for the stars.”

The STEAM-centered courses offered through the partnership will allow Covina-Valley Unified students to explore various subjects, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The program will immerse students in aviation by providing hands-on experience working with flight simulators, aircraft, and aerospace technology. Students will also have direct access to industry professionals and mentors from JFA, who will share their aviation, technology, and aerospace expertise.

“Junior Flight Academy is thrilled to collaborate with Covina-Valley Unified to ignite students’ passion for aviation and technology,” Dr. Michael D. Falkow, Senior Advisor of Academic Programs for the JFA, said. “Together, we will inspire the next generation of leaders and pioneers in aviation, fostering diversity and inclusivity within the aviation and technology sectors and the many supporting industries.”

The JFA is a new online educational platform offering aviation and technology curriculum to K-12 students. The Academy is committed to promoting STEAM-focused education, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering all students’ love for aviation and technology.

“We are honored to enter into this revolutionary partnership with Junior Flight Academy and educate a new generation of innovators, engineers, and pilots,” Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Eminhizer said. “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to extend our programs, offer new opportunities to empower our students, and inspire them to chase their dreams!”

The JFA program is currently offered at Covina High School.
