COVINA, CA – Covina-Valley Unified is known as a destination District, with standout programs, innovative learning opportunities, and enriching extracurriculars that inspire every student’s unlimited potential.
From elementary school through high school, Covina-Valley Unified’s 16 schools prepare students for success in college, careers, and beyond.
“At Covina-Valley Unified, we strive every day to ensure our students have the best instruction, resources, and opportunities to achieve both educational and personal excellence,” Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Blackmore said. “Our mission is to provide these opportunities while meeting the needs of the whole child in a safe and supportive learning environment.”
Students begin their educational journey with access to innovative programs, including Spanish and Mandarin Dual Language Immersion programs. These help students develop bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural skills at an early age, preparing them for success in an increasingly global society.
These programs extend into middle school, where students deepen their language proficiency and apply years of learning in multiple languages. Middle school students can also participate in Advancement Via Individual Determination, which helps them prepare for college success. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs such as Project Lead the Way and Femineers provide hands-on experiences that build confidence and career-ready skills.
A wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities, such as music, arts, journalism, esports, leadership, Where Everybody Belongs, Best Buddies, and more, ensure every student has opportunities to pursue their interests and develop new talents.
At the high school level, students can challenge themselves academically through rigorous programs, including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and dual enrollment courses. They can also discover their passions and gain industry experience in a range of career technical education (CTE) pathways, such as medical, aviation, agriscience, film, business, engineering, and more. These programs open doors to internships, certifications, and hands-on experiences that prepare students for life after graduation.
Student-athletes have the chance to compete at the CIF level while developing teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and perseverance. With championship-winning programs and award-winning coaches, Covina-Valley Unified students excel both on and off the field. The District is especially known for its outstanding wrestling program, which begins in middle school and continues through championship high school teams.
“At Covina-Valley Unified, our team of dedicated educators, staff, and administrators work tirelessly to support our students every day,” Blackmore said. “With health and wellness centers on every campus, dedicated social workers, and a District Health and Wellness Center, we ensure students have access to the support and resources they need to thrive.”
Covina-Valley Unified is also committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities that support academic and extracurricular excellence. From modernized CTE classrooms, labs, and equipment, to new libraries, athletic complexes, and ongoing campus improvements, the District invests in spaces that help students learn, grow, and succeed.
The District is also home to Tri-Community Adult Education, which offers flexible, self-paced online courses for adults seeking to earn a high school diploma. Tri-Community also provides free English as a Second Language classes at five levels and a variety of CTE programs to help adult learners gain valuable skills and advance their careers.
