BUENA PARK, CA – Parents were treated to a cavalcade of lively videos, presentations and teacher interviews, detailing the amazing programs and events available this year in Buena Park School District, during a series of virtual back-to-school nights.

The District hosted its middle school events on Aug. 31, while grades TK to 2 were held on Sept. 1, grades 3 to 5 were held on Sept. 2 and the Buena Park Learning Center held its event on Sept. 7.

The events were each held on Zoom and covered topics such as curriculum, new technology, health and safety updates, dress codes and the District’s 3Rs – being respectful, responsible and ready to learn.

“I was very excited to have an opportunity to connect with parents and share information about our school and about how parents can support their children for success,” Buena Park Middle School Principal Shin Park said. “I like the virtual format because it gives more parents the opportunity to participate. We were also able to share the recording with parents who were not able to attend the live session.”

Middle school presentations included information about Passion Programs and activities for older students, such as science camp, industrial arts and the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Pilot program. Elementary level presentations focused on Passion Programs, which will feed into middle schools with similar focuses to create a strong educational pathway, such as early college development, computer science and visual and performing arts.

Mabel L. Pendleton School Principal Loriann Leota said the virtual event was an amazing way to share all of her school’s opportunities with parents and connect with the community.

“Back-to-school nights are a great way for our teachers and staff to create and strengthen the roots of trust within the community,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “Events like this show how approachable administrators and staff are and all the new and exciting ways students are learning at Buena Park School District.”
