BUENA PARK, CA – Buena Park School District and the Board of Education paid tribute to five of its community partners, celebrating the programs, resources and assistance each has provided to students and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the recognition, held during the Sept. 27 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes and Board members presented plaques to each partner for “igniting the passion for learning” in the community.

The District recognized the Buena Park Police Department for campus safety and resources, the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park for providing support to socio-economically disadvantaged students, St. Jude Medical Center for mental and physical wellness assistance, the Jain Center of Southern California for supplying Chromebooks for at-home learning and Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park for gifting more than 3,000 backpacks and supplies to students.

Todd Trout, chief executive officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park, said the community partners work together in order to provide extensive assistance to District students and their families. Trout said this collaboration allows for an expansion of services, including more facilities, food, activities and school materials to ensure that all students are achieving success.

“They say ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and here in our Buena Park School District community that saying still rings true,” Miramontes said. “Our community partners provide unparalleled assistance, making sure our students have all the help they need to learn, grow and ignite their passion for learning.”
