BUENA PARK, CA – Buena Park School District’s Board of Education selected Jerry Frutos to lead as president and Rhodia Shead to serve as clerk and president pro tem during its annual organization meeting on Dec. 13.

During the same meeting, held via Zoom and in-person at the District office, outgoing President Jason Chong congratulated Frutos and wished him luck for the coming year.

Frutos thanked Chong for his leadership and commitment to the District and the Board of Education during 2021.

“I am truly honored to be serving as the next Board of Education President,” Frutos said. “I appreciate the confidence the board has in me to continue serving our students in the best possible way.”

During the meeting, Tharwa Ahmad was selected as the District representative to serve on the nominating committee to elect members to the Orange County Committee on School District Organizations, while Irene Castaneda was selected as alternative for the committee.

“Congratulations to Mr. Frutos for being selected as the new Board of Education president,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “We know that he will serve Buena Park School District with distinction and will be a shining example of leadership and determination for our entire community.”
