Buena Park School District Receives Chromebook Donations
BUENA PARK, CA – Buena Park School District received a donation of 115 Chromebooks from a consortium of local nonprofits, a gift that will specifically help special education students with their lessons during distance learning.
The Chromebooks were donated by the Anekant Community Center (ACC), in partnership with Sarva Mangal Family Trust, one part of a campaign that brought hundreds of Chromebooks to several southern California school districts.
“We want to give back and make a difference in people’s lives,” ACC Director Dr. Nitin Shah said. “We especially want to help the students, our children, because they are the future.”
The Chromebooks will include education programs such as ParentSquare, Google Meets and the student-teacher media sharing tool, Seesaw. The District is currently matching up the Chromebooks to special education students.
Anekant Community Center raised funds to purchase the Chromebooks with assistance from the Jain Center of Southern California, which is located in Buena Park.
“Buena Park School District is deeply appreciative for the gift of these Chromebooks, which will help tremendously with the District’s mission to bring equity in education to all families in our community,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “It is wonderful to see so many different organizations come together during the stay-at-home order. Thank you to all who contributed to this donation.”
