SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – Bonita High School senior Andrew Watson, Chaparral-Vista High School senior Rylie Koscielski and San Dimas High School senior Beatrice See stepped up to the podium – and into new leadership roles – before the Bonita Unified Board of Education on Oct. 4, receiving applause and cheers of encouragement as they took the oath of office to serve as the Board’s student representatives for the 2023-24 school year.

Watson, Koscielski and See will serve as the voices and advocates of their peers throughout the school year, attending all regular monthly Board meetings to provide school reports and share feedback and concerns.

“We are honored to welcome these three experienced student leaders to the Board and look forward to hearing their perspectives,” Bonita Unified Superintendent Matt Wien said. “Andrew, Rylie and Beatrice have all made their mark on their respective campuses and we know they will be exemplary student board representatives.”

Watson has been involved in leadership throughout his four years of high school. He was involved in the school’s APEX honors program as a freshman, then joined the Associated Student Body (ASB) his sophomore year – that is when he discovered a passion for leadership and service to his community. He successfully ran for junior class president and was elected ASB president this school year. After graduation, Watson hopes to attend Baylor University of Southern Methodist University and major in business, with an emphasis in economics or real estate.

Koscielski is the third person in her family to attend Chaparral-Vista High School, following in the footsteps of her brother, a Class of 2022 graduate, and her father, a Class of 2002 graduate. She is an active member of the Chaparral-Vista campus, participating in the Renaissance leadership class, the school’s annual cornhole tournament and more. In her free time, she is an avid dancer and soccer player. In the future, Koscielski aspires to work in the medical field.

Like her fellow board representatives, See is deeply involved in campus leadership. She currently serves as San Dimas High School’s ASB president and has been involved in ASB for the last seven years, even serving as a representative to the Board for Lone Hill Middle School in 2019. Her profound connection to campus led to her selection to the San Dimas High School Class of 2024’s homecoming court this fall.

In addition to maintaining a weighted GPA above a 4.0, See has also managed to earn a black belt in taekwondo. She plans to attend Mt. SAC after graduation, then transfer to a University of California campus and pursue a career as a registered nurse.
