SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – Chaparral High School senior Natalie Bolanos, San Dimas High School senior Jaiden Miranda, and Bonita High School senior Grishm Sethi were welcomed by the Bonita Unified Board of Education as the student representatives for the 2022-23 school year.

Miranda, Bolanos and Sethi, who were sworn into their positions during the Oct. 12 Board meeting, will attend all regular monthly Board meetings during the school year, provide school reports and advocate for their peers.

“We are honored to welcome these exceptional young leaders to serve as our Board of Education student representatives,” Interim Superintendent Matt Wien said. “Natalie, Jaiden and Grishm each have a unique perspective on their respective schools, and will bring energy, creativity and a lot of school pride to the Board.”

Bolanos is the only returning student board representative, having served as Chaparral’s representative as a junior during the 2021-22 school year. Bolanos is a Platinum Renaissance student who is very active at Chaparral, where she plays on the softball team and participates in the schoolwide staff-student horseshoe tournament, in which she is currently undefeated. Bolanos plans to attend college after graduation and study early child development and social work.

Miranda is San Dimas High’s 2022-23 Associated Student Body President and is heavily involved in campus leadership and extracurricular activities. Over the years, Miranda has served as the ASB fundraising commissioner and Link Crew vice president, joined the California Scholarship Federation, Debate Club and Government Club and this year helped found the Future in Medicine Club. Miranda also runs track and plays volleyball and water polo.

Miranda aspires to attend UCLA or Princeton University and major in biomedical science or psychology, on his way to becoming an orthoscopic sports surgeon or physician.

Sethi is Bonita High’s ASB president and has been a member of the marching band for four years, serving as the drumline captain for the past three years. Sethi’s most memorable moment at school came when he played drums upside down and blindfolded during a home football game. As a freshman, Sethi delivered an inspiring speech on “The Mind of a Student” at the District’s Welcome Back event just prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Sethi hopes to attend the University of Arizona and study in its Accelerated Medical Program, with a major in biology and a minor in music.

“The student voice is essential to the governance process, and supports Bonita Unified in continuing to ensure that all decisions are made in the best interests of our students,” Board of Education President Chuck Coyne said. “We are thrilled to welcome Natalie, Jaiden and Grishm to the Board and look forward to hearing their perspectives.”
