SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – For its dedication to providing students a rigorous education in a positive learning environment, Bonita Unified has been named a “Favorite School District” in the San Gabriel Valley in the Southern California News Group (SCNG) Readers’ Choice Awards for the third year in a row.

Each spring, SCNG newspapers—including the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Pasadena Star-News, and Whittier Daily News—invite readers to vote both online and through print for awards across a range of categories.

The recognition tops off a school year full of academic, artistic, and athletic accolades for the District. In 2024-25, all 10 Bonita Unified elementary and middle schools ranked in the top third of schools statewide on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best K-8 Schools list.
Gladstone Elementary School earned its first California Distinguished School honor from the California Department of Education, marking the 21st time a District school has secured the recognition for closing the achievement gap and demonstrating exceptional student performance.

Bonita Unified students also earned regional and national distinction in visual and performing arts and athletics programs. A record 38 middle school and high school students were selected for the Southern California Vocal Association’s 2025 Junior High and High School Honor Choirs. Two District students were selected for the prestigious 2025 Tournament of Roses Honor Band, continuing the District’s history of representation in this nationally-renowned event. As the school year ended, dozens of seniors committed to play in collegiate athletic programs across the country.

“This recognition from our community highlights the trust and support that drive Bonita Unified’s commitment to student achievement,” Superintendent Matt Wien said. “Our students’ accomplishments embody that dedication and will continue to exemplify our District’s culture of success and its valued place in the community.”
