Bonita Unified High Schools Maintain Top Scores in U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best High Schools’ Rankings
SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – Bonita Unified’s commitment to fostering student excellence – bolstered by robust academic support and college and career readiness efforts – has once again earned Bonita and San Dimas high schools recognition as top-performing public high schools, according to the 2024 Best High Schools rankings released by U.S. News & World Report on April 23.
Bonita and San Dimas high schools maintained their strong rankings from the previous year; in 2024, the schools ranked in the top nine percent and 15 percent, respectively, of public high schools nationwide. Both schools achieved graduation rates of 97% or higher.
“It is exciting that our comprehensive high schools once again rank among the top-performing high schools in the state and the country,” Bonita Unified Superintendent Matt Wien said. “Bonita Unified is committed to ensuring that every student has the resources and support to live their purpose, and these rankings exemplify the success of our efforts.”
In partnership with global research firm RTI International, U.S. News evaluated approximately 25,000 public high schools across the United States and ranked 17,660 of them at the national, state, and local level based on data from the 2021-22 school year. Rankings are based on six factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rates.
Both high schools also celebrated academic milestones and recognitions of student achievement throughout the last year. Bonita High School was honored with its second consecutive Edison Scholar this year, who will attend the California Institute of Technology. San Dimas High School was voted the Inland Valley’s Favorite Public High School in the Southern California News Group 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Additionally, both schools have received AP Computer Science Female Diversity Awards from the College Board for providing Advanced Placement computer science courses to a large range of students and increasing the percentage of female students in their AP Computer Science Principles courses.
