Bonita Unified School District Voted a San Gabriel Valley ‘Favorite School District’ for Second Year
SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – Bonita Unified was recognized for the second year in a row as a “Favorite School District” of the San Gabriel Valley in the Southern California News Group (SCNG) 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards, celebrating the District’s commitment to fostering students’ holistic growth through a high-quality education.
The accolade is determined through a readers’ poll conducted by SCNG, which includes contributions from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Pasadena Star-News, and Whittier Daily News. Community members cast their votes via the group’s newspapers and website in the spring.
Bonita Unified earned several academic accolades in the 2023-24 school year, further cementing its status as a leading educational institution. Several schools were praised at the state and national levels, including Grace Miller Elementary School, one of 33 schools in California honored as a National Blue Ribbon School; Chaparral-Vista High School, which was designated a 2024 Model Continuation High School; and Ramona Middle School, which was named a 2024 California Distinguished School.
Bonita Unified students also benefit from academic offerings that prepare them for the rigor of higher education; 14 career technical education pathways that provide hands-on training in specialized trades; athletic programs that have earned more than 60 league team championships and 10 CIF team championships in the last five years; and award-winning visual and performing arts programs that have performed in the Tournament of Roses Honor Band, Southern California Vocal Association Honor Choirs, California Choral Directors Association All-State Honor Choirs, and the London New Year’s Day Parade.
“Bonita Unified’s recognition as the San Gabriel Valley’s ‘Favorite School District’ is a testament to our work in supporting student excellence through innovative programs and comprehensive support,” Bonita Unified Superintendent Matt Wien said. “We are committed to setting the standard for educational achievement in the San Gabriel Valley and preparing every student to live their purpose.”
