SAN DIMAS/LA VERNE – Bonita Unified School District’s emphasis on student achievement – which includes strong academic performance, high graduation rates and a culture of college and career readiness – have earned both Bonita and San Dimas high schools recognition among the top-performing public high schools in the state and country, according to the 2023-24 Best High Schools rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

Bonita and San Dimas high schools were ranked in the top eight percent and 15 percent, respectively, of public high schools nationwide; both achieved graduation rates above 95%.

“We are thrilled that both of our comprehensive high schools have sustained impressive rankings among the top-performing high schools in the U.S.,” Bonita Unified Superintendent Matt Wien said. “Bonita Unified is committed to ensuring that every student has the resources and support to achieve their full potential, and this recognition is yet another testament to the success of those efforts.”

In partnership with global research firm RTI International, U.S. News evaluated approximately 17,680 public high schools across the United States and ranked them at the national, state and local level based on data from the 2021-22 school year. Rankings are based on six factors: college readiness, proficiency and performance in math and reading, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.

Both high schools also celebrated academic milestones and recognitions of student achievement in recent years. Bonita High School was recently honored with its first-ever Edison International Scholar and National Merit Scholar, both of whom received scholarships to fund their college education. San Dimas High School was voted the Inland Valley’s Favorite Public High School in the Southern California News Group 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards and achieved its highest Advanced Placement (AP) test pass rate in school history – which surpassed the national average by nearly eight percentage points.
