LA VERNE/SAN DIMAS – Bonita Unified School District Board of Education Vice President Matt Lyons is resigning his seat effective April 16.
Lyons was appointed to the Board in December 2017. His term runs through December 2020. He has served as vice president since December 2019.

“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to have been an appointed member of the school board for Bonita Unified School District,” Lyons said.

“I am resigning to focus on personal and family commitments, and with the full and absolute confidence in Superintendent Carl Coles, his executive cabinet and leadership team, classified and certificated staff, and my board colleagues, I know that the best days are ahead of us as a school District and larger community.”

Lyons is a San Dimas High School alumnus and heavily involved in the La Verne/San Dimas communities.

“With or without the title of a board member, my love and support for Bonita Unified School District remains resolute,” Lyons said.

“We appreciate the contributions Mr. Lyons made to Bonita Unified, especially his advocacy on behalf of our foster youth,” Board of Education President Glenn Creiman said. “We are grateful to have worked with him and wish Mr. Lyons all the best.”

The Board of Education will meet to decide a course of action for filling Lyons’ vacant seat.

“Mr. Lyons is still very much a part of our community and will no doubt continue working on behalf of our students and schools in other capacities,” Superintendent Carl J. Coles said. “On behalf of the Bonita Unified School District, I would like to thank Mr. Lyons for his service and wish him continued health and success in his future endeavors.”
