BALDWIN PARK – Kenmore Elementary School students in Baldwin Park Unified’s Think Together program crafted giant piñatas, three-dimensional stars and picture frames with puzzle pieces during the annual Lights on Afterschool event on Oct. 25.

Think Together student leaders guided District and city representatives around the Kenmore campus and shared many ways the program has helped them improve academically.

Kenmore administrators and Think Together teachers incorporated Halloween festivities into the event, with students dressing up as characters from their favorite movies, TV shows and video games.
Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide celebration that highlights the importance of afterschool programs in students’ personal and academic development.

“Afterschool partners like Think Together provide opportunities for students to engage academically through enrichment activities and project-based learning in safe and caring spaces,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “We are thankful for Think Together and this event for showcasing the many ways in which students can flourish through these programs.”

BPUSD and Think Together have partnered for more than 15 years to bring numerous opportunities to students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.
