BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified is partnering with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) on a three-year pilot program that aims to bolster student success and parent engagement.

Baldwin Park High School is one of 15 schools across the county to participate on a Community Schools Initiative. With an integrated focus on academic and socio-emotional support services, the initiative will help to improve student learning opportunities and strengthen community bonds.

“It is a privilege to partner with LACOE and participate in the Community Schools Initiative,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “This program follows with our mission to ensure high achievement for all learners, and we are doing so through equity and making sure Baldwin Park students are prepared to be well-rounded leaders.”

Baldwin Park Unified will collaborate with community partners, including local libraries and health clinics, to provide additional health and social services, and youth and community resources.

Staff and administrators from Baldwin Park High are being trained in the program, which launched in September. Through the initiative, pilot schools are expected to see an increase in graduation rates and parent engagement, and a decrease in chronic absenteeism and suspensions.

The purpose of the initiative is to promote equity for students by identifying areas of improvement and using community resources to prepare students for college and careers.
