Baldwin Park Unified Gives Back to Community with Food Basket Program
BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified is collaborating with the City of Baldwin Park for an upcoming Holiday Food Basket Program, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Esther Snyder Community Center, located at 4100 Baldwin Park Blvd.
The Baldwin Park Charitable Relief Foundation, Navidad en el Barrio, and local supermarkets are also part of the community effort to ensure Baldwin Park families have access to meals.
Food baskets will be available for pick up by drive-thru only.
“As a department, we feel thrilled to be able to provide meals during difficult times for families in the community,” City of Baldwin Park Program Coordinator Armando Nava said. “The best part is seeing families leaving with food and happy faces.”
The Holiday Food Basket Program has distributed more than 400 food baskets annually to Baldwin Park residents in need, and has supported families and individuals for more than 25 years.
Donations of food and money are accepted from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Teri G. Muse Family Service Center, located at 14305 East Morgan Ave.
During the week of Monday, Dec. 6 and leading up to the distribution date, volunteers can assist by separating the donations and assembling the 400 food boxes. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can report to the Esther Snyder Community Center during the below dates and times:
• 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 – Thursday, Dec. 9
• Noon to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10
• 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11
“We are happy to come together with our community partners to ensure Baldwin Park families are supported, especially during this time of year,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “The Holiday Food Basket Program is an excellent opportunity to show one another that we care, and that we are here to help.”
