BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Unified School District and Foothill Family have expanded their decade-long partnership to include new Medi-Cal certified satellite offices at Margaret Heath and Walnut elementary schools.

Effective Jan. 24, the satellite offices offer services to more students on a daily basis, including individual and family therapy that focuses on prevention and early intervention. Services span clinical assessments, consultations and treatment planning to develop realistic goals for success.

“To ensure high achievement for all learners, we first must ensure that our students are healthy, happy and supported,” Baldwin Park Unified Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “BPUSD recognizes and understands that each student faces a different set of challenges, and it is our responsibility to offer the tools and resources they need to lead full, happy lives.”

Using research- and evidence-based practices, clinicians work with students who have experienced trauma to develop coping skills. Clinicians also work with school counselors and psychologists to support overall student progress.

The satellite offices will integrate Foothill Family counseling staff into the school culture to provide smooth collaboration with school personnel.

“This partnership normalizes the ability to seek help and destigmatizes mental health to create healthier, successful communities that thrive and flourish academically, socially and emotionally,” Foothill Family Covina Center Clinical Director Daneta Calderon-Vital said.

Foothill Family also provides mental health services for students and families at Bursch and Foster elementary schools.
Founded in 1926, Foothill Family offers family development services to the greater Los Angeles region, including mental health care, Early Childhood Education, parent education and school-based services.
