Baby2Baby Donates Backpacks to Vineland Elementary Students
BALDWIN PARK – Vineland Elementary School students in transitional kindergarten through fourth grade clapped, cheered and shouted in delight as more than 400 backpacks were unveiled behind a curtain on the school’s cafeteria stage on Aug. 23, thanks to a partnership with Baby2Baby.
This is the second year that Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization, donated backpacks to Baldwin Park Unified students – packed to the brim with school supplies and a jumbo TY Beanie Boo plush gorilla. Transitional kindergarteners through second-graders also received school uniforms.
During the special assembly, Vineland Elementary students thanked Baby2Baby in unison before lining up to collect their new bags, consisting of bright blue, purple, pink, black, navy and red backpacks.
“This is an exciting event, and we want to thank Baby2Baby for everything that they are doing to ensure we are preparing students for success,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “With the support of our community and business partnerships, we are ready for an incredible school year.”
Baby2Baby provides basic necessities for newborns and children up to the age of 12, including shoes, clothes, cribs and backpacks.
BPUSD has partnered with Baby2Baby for over two years. The organization supplies monthly diaper donations to Baldwin Park Unified’s Early Childhood Education program and sponsors families during the holidays.
