Hacienda La Puente Unified Seeks Community Input, Board to Discuss Trustee Boundary Adjustments
CITY OF INDUSTRY – Hacienda La Puente Unified School District will hold two community input meetings on Thursday, Jan. 6 and Tuesday, Jan. 18 to discuss the 2020 Census Evaluation and Trustee Area Boundary Adjustments. Two proposed maps have been shared with the community on our District website and will be addressed through a series of in-person and virtual community meetings, public hearings and Board meetings.
District administration and the demographers will discuss the drafted scenarios during the community meetings from 6 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 6 and Jan. 18 at the District Office, La Puente Conference Room, 15959 Gale Ave., City of Industry. The public is encouraged to submit comments to District Administration, which will be presented to the Board for their consideration. To submit a comment, please email cvra@hlpusd.k12.ca.us.
In accordance with California Education Code, following every 10-year census, each school district must evaluate the total population variances between its trustee areas and revise its boundary maps accordingly.
In conformance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) guidance dated Nov. 9, 2021, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District will require proof of vaccination before entering the District Office for all meetings. Attendees who are not fully vaccinated or are unable to attend in person may join virtually. Visit https://bit.ly/3G24Mpt to register in advance and join the community meetings through Zoom.
The community will have additional opportunities to provide input during the Public Hearing portion of the Board’s meetings on Thursday, Jan. 13 and Tuesday, Jan. 25.
The Board will select a final map on Thursday, Feb. 10 during the regular Board meeting. The approved map will then be presented to the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization for final approval.
