FONTANA, CA – Twelve Fontana Unified School District schools have earned platinum honors from the California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coalition for the 2025-26 school year – the most FUSD campuses to receive the top recognition in District history – while 30 schools were recognized overall for fostering positive, supportive campus cultures.

This is the third consecutive year that Fontana Unified has had 10 or more schools earn platinum honors. All 30 schools will be celebrated at the 2026 California PBIS Conference, held Oct. 7-9 in Sacramento.

“Earning 12 platinum honors, with multiple schools receiving higher levels of PBIS recognition than the previous year, speaks to the dedication of our Fontana Unified community in creating welcoming school environments where every student feels supported,” Superintendent Miki R. Inbody said. “It also speaks to the culture of care that our students adopt themselves, as they continue to apply their behavioral and social-emotional skills in their day-to-day lives.”

PBIS is a proactive framework designed to promote positive behavior and strengthen student well-being and academic outcomes. Through PBIS, schools establish consistent expectations and help students develop self-management skills. The framework equips educators with strategies to address students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs.

Ten schools advanced to a higher recognition level from the 2024-25 school year, including three that advanced from gold to platinum and seven that rose from silver to gold. Recognitions are earned at four levels: platinum, gold, silver and bronze, based on schools’ implementation of PBIS strategies and success in supporting positive student outcomes.

Platinum honorees include Cypress, Date, Hemlock, Live Oak, and Redwood elementary schools; Dolores Huerta International Academy; Alder, Almeria, Fontana, Harry S. Truman, and Sequoia middle schools; and Eric Birch High School. Almeria, Eric Birch, and Redwood advanced from gold to platinum, with Hemlock’s platinum recognition being its first PBIS award in the school’s history.

Gold honors were awarded to Beech Avenue, Canyon Crest, Mango, Maple, North Tamarind, O’Day Short, Oleander, Shadow Hills, Sierra Lakes, and West Randall elementary schools; Southridge Tech Middle School; and A.B. Miller and Jurupa Hills high schools. A.B. Miller, Beech, Canyon Crest, Mango, Maple, North Tamarind, and Shadow Hills advanced from silver to gold.

Silver honors were awarded to Almond Elementary School, Dorothy Grant Innovations Academy, and Fontana, Henry J. Kaiser, and Summit high schools.
